Midlands : Nu Vilaz Nu LeritazRenowned for its majestic Midlands Dam and surrounded by lush greenery, the scenic Montagne D'Hauvillard and Montagne Lagrave, Midlands lies at the very heart of the island. The longest river of the island, namely, GRSE has its source in the periphery of the village and another interesting characteristic of Midlands is that it is situated in 3 districts, viz, Plaine Wilhems, Grand-Port and Moka.
Midlands is centrally located; a few mins drive from the town of Curepipe, 20 mins from the SSR International Airport and 30 mins drive to Port-Louis. Midlands was in the past reputed for its acres of tea plantations, the Bassin Anouska and the nursery. Historically, the region of 16eme Mille was attached to Midlands but as per the LGA 2011 , 16eme Mille has been attributed full-fledged village status with its own village council and jurisdictions. As a matter of fact, the advent of the La Vigie-Nouvelle France motorway has significantly improved the visibility and accessibility of Midlands, making it one of the most sought place for residence in the outskirts of Curepipe. We invite you to discover more about our cherished village by visiting our website and we dedicate the latter especially to those hundreds of Midlanders who have now settled abroad, namely in the UK, Italy and France.
